Graston - Instrument Assisted Tissue Mobilization
Graston Technique is a type of Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM). IASTM is a treatment that utilizes medical grade stainless steel tools in order to loosen and release scar tissue, adhesions, and fascial stiffness. This therapy also increases local circulation and decreases muscle tone and pain.
Graston Technique is widely used for treatment of:
- Acute and chronic pain
- Ligament sprains
- Muscle strain
- Tennis elbow
- Rotator Cuff Injuries
- Back pain
- Knee pain such as Runner's Knee
- Plantar Fasciitis
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- Nerve Entrapments
- Scar Tissue (including surgical scars)
- Shin Splints
IASTM is performed with handheld instruments used by the doctor. The tool is used over the injured area for several minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated. Dr. Josh is Graston Technique trained and utilizes this therapy for various injuries.
